Faith-Based Counseling
Has your light become dimmer over the years? Are you struggling to find your true path and calling? Are you looking for a professional who is open to incorporating faith and spirituality into your treatment?
If so, you are definitely not alone. More and more of my clients are looking for counseling that integrates their spirituality and faith to help them heal. They want to be able to not only discuss the issues they are having but also openly discuss God, the Bible or other religious text, and their belief in the power of prayer to support them as they heal.
And I am not the only counselor who has noticed that people prefer to seek guidance from those who support, rather than challenge, their faith. In fact, according to a nationwide survey by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), 83% of Americans believe their spiritual faith and religious beliefs are closely tied to their state of mental and emotional health. Three-quarters have stated it's important for them to work with a therapist who integrates their values and beliefs into the counseling process.
Some benefits of integrating spirituality and faith into treatment:
- Can provide hope
- Can provide help with meaning making and a sense of purpose
- Can provide a sense of overall wellbeing/balance- living according to your faith-based values.
- Provides coping strategies: prayer, meditation, readings related to your faith
- Can help you feel more at peace (meditation, selected readings, time in nature)
- Can help you with forgiveness and gratitude
- Can provide a sense of community
If you or someone you love is interested in exploring therapy that integrates spirituality and faith into treatment. I offer a free 10-15 minute consultation to help us determine if my approach aligns with your needs. In my practice, all faiths are welcome.
